Still in the swing

by Angela Upex, Evening Chronicle

THE region’s up and coming artists decided they were going to show the Michael Buble entourage a thing or two.

After his stunning concert on Friday at the Metro Arena, talented local swing artists got together for an after-party performance.

The venue was the very hip Quayside’s Nancy’s Bordello where Paul Martin joined forces with Sarah Miller and their eight piece band to entertain the rapturous crowd.

They sampled all the best from the rat pack genre with wonderful renditions of Sinatra and Dean Martin.

Paul Martin, a regular around the clubs and wedding venues of the region, has just teamed up with the very gorgeous songstress Sarah Miller and they were an absolute hit with the packed crowd at Nancy’s.

Paul is a natural entertainer with a fabulous voice. Now paired with the tiny but amazing Sarah, the duo recreated the sounds of the past.

The highlight has to be Sarah’s rendition of Etta James’ I just Wanna Make to Love to You – to the rest of us mortals better known as the Diet Coke advert.

Sarah enthralled the crowd with her amazing voice and the musicians that accompanied the band were brilliant.

It’s just great to know that the sound of swing is still alive and kicking in Tyneside.

And if Michael had made it to this very special venue, he would have witnessed a great night and would have been rightly proud that his kind of music is wowing everyone.
